One of the selling points of The Machine is the reduction in clutter in the kitchen bench space and cupboards.
I was considering buying The Machine back in June or July when my food processor seemed not to be working any more. I took it along to Mr Fixit (Dad) who unscrewed everything, looked around, tested the electronics, and scratched his head. We started cleaning it, when I realised in one crushing face-palm moment that I was, indeed, stupid, and had been using it incorrectly. So even though it's not as sharp as it could be, I earned myself a 2-3 year reprieve from needing to buy The Machine.
It was bothering me that I had no measuring scales. While fossicking through some long-ignored cupboard looking for a citrus-juicer, I discovered a set I must have inherited some time before I developed this bizarre interest in cooking with precision.
I don't tend to beat anything, because the beaters weigh a ton, are a pain to clean, and could potentially cause a house-fire. So it's been years since I made a Pav.
The stab mixer really only pulps, pushes and sprays, so yes I do use it for soup and cake mix, but I'll never get pumpkin as "silky smooth" as The Machine does.
I love my rice cooker. I think it's because it's one of the few things I actually went into a shop and purchased. Everything else has been inherited or gifted. However, the coating on the bowl is starting to flake off and I wonder if I will get 2-3 years out of it.
The slow cooker is one of the old kinds where the bowl doesn't disconnect from the base. As such, it is very difficult to clean. I am also reluctant to leave it unattended, so instead of coming home to yummy smells, I tend to wake up to them... and come home to stale versions still lingering in the walls. (I have noticed that The Machine, being a "quick cooker", leaves less residual smell in the room after cooking!)
Don't tend to use my meal warmer, generously brought over from India, but The Machine comes with its own warmer.
My thumping great big wok-style frypan would go (not pictured here because it's still in the sink awaiting washing).
I'm guessing I'll still need to use a toastie-maker, salad spinner and popcorn maker once I make the change, but think how much more room I will have for fancy teapots!
